Why running your business feels harder than it should

Spoiler alert: it’s not you. If running your business feels harder than you expected, you’re not delulu. I see so many female founders get bogged down in business. You reach a point where things should feel easier. You have the clients, the experience, the proof that what you’re doing works, and yet everything feels so fucking hard.

Admin takes longer than it should. Small repetitive tasks require more capacity than you imaged and you’re constantly filing things away in your brain, and hope that you remember to do whatever ‘the thing’ is.

Growing pains

Most female founders don’t ride the struggle bus because you don’t have the skills or motivation. You might be struggling because your business is growing faster than you thought, with a setup you bodged together in the wee hours of the early days.

You’ve outgrown your old systems that supported you back then. And that’s not a bad thing. Change is good. With more enquiries, more admin and more shit to do, you need systems to support you, and meet you where you’re at. Helping you hold it all together so you can do less, better.

Winging it

I see so many female founders trying to keep it all together. Sure, you remember to send the emails, you manually follow-up ignored invoices and continue to feed the algorithm by scheduling your content. But real talk, just because you can hold it all doesn’t mean you need to.

If your business only works when you’re fully switched on, always available, and having to think three steps ahead, it will always feel way fucking harder than it needs to.

Stop doing more

You don’t need to hustle harder or sign up to more subscriptions. It’s usually the opposite. What actually supports female founders is clearer workflows and automations to remove the manual mental load.

If this hit you in the feels, consider it a sign that your business has grown. You’re not doing anything wrong, you’re just ready for the next level of support. Where you don’t have to do more. When you have systems that support you, and you’re doing less but better - your business will work without everything relying on you to show up.
